14 miles. saturday - january 24

-4 degrees. my face was covered in frozen sweat, i lost circulation to my hands and that hurt real bad but only for a half mile or so, fresh snow made the run slow and tedious, my legs were purple and blotchy when i changed back at the y (this went away after a cold shower) but despite all that it was a good run. i wasn't sore or tired afterwards.

6 miles. thursday - january 21

great tempo run with anne and cara. we all pushed ourselves and my legs felt soooo much better than they did wednesday!

on the rock island. slow run, my shins hurt the whole time.

5 miles. tuesday - january 20

ran with dustin and his ipod. started with a with a 8:30 warm up then ran a couple fast miles at about a 7 min pace and the rest at about 7:30

lazy. and traveling. no more laziness!

ran in the snow at como park and through surrounding neighborhoods. unsure of total miles, at least 10, probably more. the snow made it a challenging run.

after a failed trip to san francisco, i returned to lincoln and ran with anne and cara. i was still sick, but it felt good

4 miles. monday - january 12

4 miles on the treadmill. it was super cold and windy so i stayed inside. averaged an 8:20 mile, started slow cause my calves are still tight and did a tempo run at mile 1 increasing speed to a 7:30 mile. slow and easy run overall, with about 1/2 mile where i felt like i was running hard.

the gym was sooo busy at 8:30. it's usually empty that late in the evening. new years resolutioners. they'll be gone by the end of the month.

4 miles. sunday - january 11

4 mile recovery run through the near south with cara. sunny and warmish at 36. really fun, slow run. probably nine minute miles. tightness in my calves went away after a good yoga class in the am and the afternoon run.

12 miles. saturday - january 10

first long run of the season. 12 miles in 2 inches of fresh snow. it went well! cara and i left the y at about 7:20 and got back just after 9. great time considering we were running in the snow.

6 miles. thursday - january 8

inaugural marathon training run. anne, cara and i did six miles. good pace and anne picked it up for the last 3/4 mile right about the time cara and i were wanting to slow down. i kept pace with her even though i was tired, figuring this would be a common occurance and i'd better get used to pushing myself when i run with anne.
